Multiple questions about PA

DiggBlinkRedditDeliciousTechnorati

question by mastercomputers | Easy

I think this place could do with a FAQ to help answer most of these. Also there's a grammar error in the automatically sent email in which "do" should be "to", I'm sure you'll find the error and correct it.

OK and now for the questions:

1) Are we able to also volunteer and help with PA to improve it? e.g. offering our web developing skills, programming, etc? Becoming a beta tester? Even if it just means sending ideas, but where should that be directed to, because it's not really a question.

2) How can we contact the PA staff without submitting it like this? Especially if we discovered pontentially critical bugs which would suggest not reporting it for everyone to see, as the time for the developer to see it and the time for someone to get their hands on it and use it to their advantage may seem too late.

3) Sometimes a question requires a person to post code, is that code going to be covered under some sort of license, or would we be required to state what we protect our code under? I don't mind public domain, but sometimes it could be code derived from projects I work on, mostly Creative Commons and GP which again has it's own conditions of use.

4) What are the terms of posting, who owns what? e.g. if we post it, is the content now owned by PA or is it owned by the person who posted it?

5) The automated email said we could write articles, I have not seen how this is possible without asking a question, is that later being implemented or have I missed it?

6) What steps are taken to avoid copyright infringements?

There's many more questions I'd find to ask while using this service but for now I think that's enough for now.

Thank you.

Multiple Answers :-)

answer by Support@PA

Thanks for asking the questions, I'll try to answer them the best I can. :-)

1) Yes and no. At this moment we have a dedicated development team. Much of the backend is still very much in beta. And public testers will be invited once our inhouse development and testing is complete.

2) Posting in public is always encouraged, however if and when private communication becomes a must, then you can email the support group at support(AT)programmerassist(DOT)com.

3) The license of the piece of code will decide whether it can be posted here or not.

4) The member is responsible for his/her posts. We are in the process of consulting our legal experts and phrasing the Terms & Conditions.

5) The articles feature has been recently deactivated as it had the potential to be exploited/abused. We had to pull it off, but we would bring it back once we have enough editorial volunteers. Our staff is not in a position to moderate them at this point of time.

6) All violations can be reported in the Community topic area. The administration will take prompt action regarding the same.

Much of the documentation, contact forms, terms/conditions etc. is to be finalized let alone published But then we are still in beta aren't we. ;-) Regards.
