Just adding the finishing touches, RSS seems to be the only thing left before the beta testing catches steam. =)

Well the notifs are working great at least. Not like the Vanilla forums.

Yea, Vanilla has a module though I believe. UseBB is a good light weight forum too, if muso is interested. http://www.usebb.net

Vanilla doesn't have the mod yet. We have Vamilla installed on one of our sites and phpBB on another. I'll show him this one later though...thanks!

Just browse through Vanilla's dev community. I remember one guy had posted a mod (on the forum, not on the site) for email notifs. This was prolly around 3-4 months ago. ;)

Yeah I belong to the forums and posted to one of the topics about the mod but still haven't gotten a notif about it. ROFL!

Who needs notifs, we got RSS!!!! =o)

Oh btw, UseBB.net does have notifs. No polls tho. It's almost as lightweight as Vanilla. Plus it is usable in the real world .. ;)

It looks really interesting and we have a couple more websites we can try it out on. Polls don't matter to me really. Never saw the point.

Great! Alex does reviews. Oh and he says the code for UseBB is a bit bloated. :-(

Re: So what do I do with this website/script?

reply by Srirangan

Compared to Vanilla .. Yes, it most surely is bloated. But then in the real world, if you have to get a forum working, UseBB is a very good lightweight solution. Ofcourse we have the biggies, VB, IVB and PHPBB.

It's in the end a matter of what your requirements are. Vanilla is excellent. But it wouldn't work in the real world. People have started expecting certain "givens" when it comes to web based forums.

Vanilla as good as it is, doesn't fulfill these as yet. Vanilla will work for a certain type of audience, but for a general category, you'ld have to stick with something more traditional. UseBB fits there, is one of the best 'small' forums right now.

He's griping about the tables and such but I still think it looks cleaner than phpBB and has more functionality than Vanilla.

I'll agree with him there. The default theme is bad. When I had to install it for a client, I did have to make some big changes. But then I stuck with the table's because the client couldn't careless about CSS. ;-)

And that's his main concern is the CSS.
