Here's an IDE for Ruby: http://www.ruby-ide.com/ruby/ruby_ide_and_ruby_editor.php

It looks pretty good however I haven't used it. I personally prefer to use Nvu. I think you should mention the platform for which you are looking for a editor/IDE.

RadRails is an IDE made just for RoR. It is much like eclipse. It is very nice, and easy to use. You should try it. I'm sure you'll love it, and it is free, and cross platform.

If you're on Mac, may I suggest TextMate. This is the best IDE I've seen in years. It has tons of features, yet looks clean and simple. It can be easily extended, and has Ruby, and rhtml highlighting already built-in. Good Luck.

Radrails is a good editor, and is cross platform. If you decide to go with radrails, then I would recommend installing the full eclipse sdk and then installing radrails as a plugin. If you do this then you can also install Aptana which is really nice for html, css, and rhtml.

At the moment I am using jedit which I like a lot. Make sure you install the super abbreviations plugin and spend some time getting to know the keyboard shortcuts. Huge time saver.

A new editor that I have been playing with is Intype. It's in its early stages of development, but I think it might be my editor of choice very soon.

Good luck, Brian
