An operating system introduced in 2001 from Microsoft's Windows family of operating systems, the previous version of Windows being Windows Me. Microsoft called the release its most important product since Windows 95. Along with a redesigned look and feel to the user interface, the new operating system is built on the Windows 2000 kernel, giving the user a more stable and reliable environment than previous versions of Windows. Windows XP comes in two version, Home and Professional.

A friend brought their dell computer to me to attempt to correct a problem. It's a Dell Demension 8250 with only 256 gigs of memory. This computer runs real slow. To boot up, this system takes about 10 min. Opening a program also takes forever. I've managed to remove 3 viruses from this computer and also deleted unused programs, cleaned out the history, cookies, ran the disk defrag. I would like to remove some of the programs that open automatically at start up but dont know how. I would add more memory, but the cost of memory for this computer makes it not worth it. Can you help me with this problem?
