------------------------------
For the second time in as many days, we have received a message from the kind folks at Experts Exchange (http://www.experts-exchange.com) that Programmer Assist might be an infringement of their patent.
Experts Exchange (EE for short) has patented their questions-points-answers process, and without having seen Programmer Assist in action, hence being unwaware of the inherent differences, EE has all but laid the accusation on us.
To the employees from EE who are on this website for 'investigation':
Please do not abuse the system just for your testing purposes. We from our side will answer all the technical questions you have regarding our process. Infact you can ask your questions right here, or post them in the Community topic area.
Although the overall nature of the two websites is similar, we believe there aren't any patent violations from our side, and we will do all to assure EE of the same. If it is to be found that our software (or a part of our software) is indeed infringing your patent (or a part of your patent), we promise to take our website offline till the necessary changes are made.
However we would (obviously) not tolerate if your engineers are found abusing the system in any form. All access attempts are being logged. Only our beta testers are allowed to try to break the system, attempts from EE would not be accepted.
We hope that the issue will be resolved satisfactorily and we are ready to work with you towards the same. Regards.

Re: Programmer Assist, Experts Exchange & the Patentreply by Bejaan Programmer Assist is much much better than Experts Exchange, which quite frankly feels like a spam website with the millions of ads and popups everywhere.
I know nothing about the patent issue but I have used both websites, and although Experts Exchange has been around for a long long time, I honestly find Programmer Assist a much better environment, despite the fact that this website is still in beta.
And I'm darn sure Experts Exchange can't patent Q&A type websites (because a million others already exist) and that's where the similarity between Programmer Assist and Experts Exchange ends.
